The panel topic, Insider Threat Lessons from the Edward Snowden Affair, will be examined from the perspective of government and industry. Edward Snowden was the ultimate Insider Threat and demonstrates how insiders can do immense damage to an organization.In this presentation, Steve will share the story of his personal involvement with Edward Snowden and the lessons he learned on defending oneself from insider threats.

Joe currently serves a the CISO for the City of San Francisco where he is known for his ability to build trust and motivate people toward common goals. He sets the course for Information Security’s alignment with business operations to deliver meaningful solutions to the toughest challenges within budget. As former Naval Officer, Mr. Voje, served in many roles related to cyber security and information assurance for the U.S. Navy. He has previously served as the Information Systems Director for the U.S. Navy’s only forward deployed air wing in Atsugi, Japan; the Information Assurance Officer for the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; the Information Assurance Manager for Carrier Strike Group Nine home ported out of Everett, Washington; and the Executive Officer of the U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunication Station Bahrain.

Brian is responsible for Information Security for Macy’s Inc., a Fortune 100 retailer, which includes over 900 department store locations, key corporate sites, internal banking and credit operations, and Macys.com and Bloomingdales.com. Since building the Information Security Organization from the ground up, Brian continues to stay focused on aligning corporate security initiatives with business goals, while showing the value that security brings to the entire organization.

With over 15 years of cybersecurity experience, Steve Bay has provided expert information security services in both the public and private sector. He has served as Chief Information Security Officer at Nuvasive, cybersecurity consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, and was a leading subject matter expert on the global cyber threat at the National Security Agency. Steven recently launched his own information security start-up, SSBay, where he offers cybersecurity consulting, virtual CISO services, and leadership and security strategy seminars. Recently, Steven was published on TheCipherBrief.com where he shared his personal experiences and lessons learned from his time as Edward Snowden’s boss at Booz Allen Hamilton.
